First to say the HBO series (recently broadcasted on German television) is much better than the novel. 'A Game of Thrones' as the first book of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series can be seen as an introduction to lots of betrayal, intrigues and a huuuuuuge amount of people. That's why it is very difficult to get into it since there are so many different kind of characters and even much more connections between those people which causes the story to become a bit confusing over the time. The whole novel (and it seems to continue in the next books as well) is dominated by lots of dialogues. Thus tension seems to remain in background for the most time. Though, I'd suggest the english version to be a sensible alternative to the german version as each book is divided into two separated books which makes a total amount of at least 12 books I guess and the orginal names are translated awfully!1 von 4 Kunden fanden diese Bewertung hilfreich
