Story depicted that the daughter of Chunagon Minamoto Tadayori is left out by her stepmother and she is forced to live on a lower house, so she is called Ochikubo. Ochikubo meets a major general and they live a happy life after get married. Her stepmother bears a grudge so she always hits hard at the servants who helped Ochikubo and her husband. Stepmother completely lost her power after Minamoto Tadayori died and she is really repentance, the major forgives her later. Ochikubo Monogatari completely adopts the method of classical realism creation and faithfully reflect the corner of the aristocratic life. On the one hand, the thought of retribution that there is justice in the world has been promoted. On the other hand, it also put forwards a new code of ethics and values of aristocratic society and the precious spirit of loyalty to love has been highlighted.
