This book is about events in my country, Sierra Leone, from the time it attains independence from the British to present-day life in Sierra Leone .The aim of the book is to chart the issue of corruption in Sierra Leone and the effect it is having in promoting underdevelopment in the country.
Since its independence in April 27, 1961, the country has had few military and civilian governments. And throughout this period, the country has gone from crisis to crisis, and it is all man-made.
The country has gone through both military and civilian dictatorship, which resulted in a civil war that lasted for ten years. The main cause of this crisis is the issue of corruption and nepotism. In Sierra Leone is not what you know but is who you know that will propel you for a brighter future.
The aim of my book is to help highlight some of the corruption in the country and how the civilian population will help to fight it so we can put our beloved Sierra Leone, with its huge natural resources like gold, diamonds, and oil, to full use for the benefit of everyone in the country. Sierra Leone deserves to be one of the most developed nations on earth, but because of the greed of certain people in high places, the country is ranked as one of the least developed countries in the world. If countries like Denmark who only produce cheese can be counted in the league of developed nations, surely Sierra Leone and many other African countries can take a leaf from those Scandinavian countries.

Autoren-Porträt von Abraham A. Jalloh
I Abraham A. Jalloh was born in the northern province of Sierra Leone .My father is both the village headman and a large cattle farmer. My father is survived by twenty four children and four wives . Iam the fifth in my father's and fourth to my mother. I attended my local primary school before I moved to the town of Kabala to study for my secondary level education .
At the age of sixteen after my O levels i moved to the town of Makeni which is eighty miles away from my village of Dogoloyia to study for my A levels .
It was during my stay in Makeni that I realized the full extent of the corrupt system in my country that is denying a whole generations of young people to attain their full potential because of the corrupt system of government in the country .And more importantly because the teachers refused to conduct classes because they are denied their salaries or someone in the ministry of education have pocketed their monies.
Hence I became politically active by joining an under ground student group called the green book .The aim of this student movements was to call to attention for the government to undertake to tackle corruption in the country.
After the out brake of the war I moved to London where I live with my partner and son.
I want to thank my family, friends in Gala , and I want to especially thank Kim Stalinstas for encouraging me from the outset to publish my work. Also to Louise Perry who read some of the draft and gave me her feed back and to many others. And to Nobina Islam , Grace Gardiner ,Udesh , Naz ALI and to Islam Box who have put up with me constantly talking about my book project.
