Pest complex in okra, sampling techniques, use of botanical and chemical pesticides was evaluated in okra and it was found that weather changes not only affected the status of the insect pests but also affected their population dynamics, distribution and abundance. Variance to mean ratio of different pests showed aggregated distribution of P. solenopsis and E. vitella in the field. Development duration and determination of thermal constants under various constant temperature regimes can be used to predict the occurrence, number of generations and possibly the population dynamics of the pests in okra at Aligarh. Results pertaining to the use of botanicals against 2nd instar nymphs of D. cingulatus and P. solenopsis showed that botanical pesticides were effective and among them neem showed high mortality in the pest Using pesticides from more than one chemical group reduces the risk of developing pesticide resistance.
