Dr. Ines O e h m e . Studied chemistry at the Mining Academy of Freiberg (Germany), 1992-1996 research in the field of optical sensors at the University of Graz, Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Graz. IFZ staff member since 1997. Lecturer at the University of Klagenfurt, Graz University of Technology and the Advanced Technical College Technikum Joanneum in Kapfenberg concerning issues of ¿Technology and Society¿ and "Ecological Product Policy¿.Dr. Ulrike S e e b a c h e r . Studied chemical engineering (biochemistry and food chemistry) at the Technical University Graz. 1991-93: scientific assistant at the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the Technical University Graz; additional training: DeskTopPublishing. IFZ staff member since 1998. Main fields of activity: Environmental and social compatibility of products and technologies, environmentally sound procurement.The IFZ (Inter-University Research Centre for Technology, Work and Culture) was established in 1988 and is the Graz unit of the Faculty for Interdisciplinary Studies (IFF) of the University of Klagenfurt. Within the faculty it belongs to the Department of Research on Science and Technology. IFZ is an interdisciplinary research institute dealing with issues of socially and environmentally sound technology design. In our work we attempt to improve the understanding of technology's role in society and develop new approaches to shape technological change.
