Byron as persona -poet mirrors forth his own ironically asserted ascendancy in the figure of his anti-heroic hero Don Juan. The mask is, it would appear, the reality.

The Author: Henry S. Whittier has taught literature at Middlebury College, C.W. Post College and Dalhousie University as an Associate Professor. He received his B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy, his M.A. from the University of New Hampshire and his Ph.D. from Yale University. He has written a short novel and a modest number of articles.
