Emile Chautard (1864 24 April 1934) was a French film director, actor and screenwriter of the silent era. He directed 107 films between 1910 and 1924. He also appeared in 66 films between 1911 and 1934. He was born in Avignon, France and died in Los Angeles, California. The Cinema of France comprises the art of film and creative movies made within the nation of France or by French filmmakers abroad. France is the birthplace of cinema and was responsible for many of its early significant contributions. Several important cinematic movements, including the Nouvelle Vague, began in the country. It is noted for having a particularly strong film industry, due in part to protections afforded by the French government.
