Shen Shixi wurde1952 in Shanghai geboren. Ab 1969 lebte er mehere Jahre in Xishuangbanna, einer tropischen Region im Südwesten Chinas, in der zahlreiche Tierarten zu Hause sind. Dort lernte er eine Menge über Tiere und ihr Verhalten. Er hat über zwanzig preisgekrönte Kinderbücher geschrieben.
