Minecraft mods are special plugins that extend the enormously popular multi-player online building game. Minecraft, which was written in Java, is a global gaming phenomenon. Because it can be extended with programs written in the language, many avid players of the game are motivated to learn Java so they can code and share their own mods. Minecraft Mods Programming Absolute Beginner's Guide is the easiest, quickest, most entertaining introduction to creating Minecraft mods in Java. The first part of Minecraft Mods Programming Absolute Beginner's Guide shows the reader how to set up a Minecraft server and the NetBeans integrated development environment, which will be used to develop mods. NetBeans is free and available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. When that's done, the basics of the Java language are introduced.
The second part completes the Java language tutelage with object-oriented programming and advanced topics such as exceptions and threaded programs. If an advanced feature of Java is not necessary for mods, it is not covered.
The third part is all about creating mods. Each chapter covers how to create a mod and demonstrates at least one new technique, with full source code. There are also chapter enders on ways to customize the mod.
This is the only Minecraft mods programming book that's as fun and entertaining as playing Minecraft itself.
