Didier Astruc was a full professor at the Universities Bordeaux I and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He studied in Rennes, carried out his post-doc at MIT with Nobel prizewinner R. R. Schrock, and then took up a post at the CNRS before moving to Bordeaux. He was awarded the prize of the Coordination Chemistry Division of the French Chemical Society, the Humboldt Prize and the Le Bel Prize. Professor Astruc is an experienced author and editor of books in the field of organometallic chemistry.
