This book tackles various pragmatic issues which are manipulated by politicians in diverse contexts where the principle of being honest is less important than fulfilling their goals. These issues range from Irony to Impoliteness, Deception, Diplomacy, Fallacy, and Political Accusations. Besides, it reveals what pragmatic strategies are appealed to by those politicians to win over their opponents or convince their audience. Revealing those strategies is done by pragmatic analytical models which are applied to verbal and nonverbal data. Thus, the book can be useful to politicians, pragmaticians, and applied linguists. Additionally, the book is indispensable to researchers interested in pragmatics as it suggests different approaches about how to build pragmatic analytical models and how to use them to analyze political data or any other kind of data.

Abstract:
This chapter is mainly concerned with pragmatically tackling the diplomatic answers in press conferences speeches as represented by Clinton's press conferences: an American candidate. She is a runner for the Democratic nomination to be the President of the United States in the 2016 election. The chapter attempts to investigate the pragmatic aspects which characterize her diplomatic answers in her press conferences. Precisely, the study attempts to answer the question: what pragmatic aspects are there in Hillary Clinton's diplomatic answers? This means that this work intends to find out those pragmatic aspects which help Hillary Clinton achieve the targets of the press conference. To accomplish such a goal, an eclectic model is presented for the scrutiny of the pragmatics of diplomatic answers in press conference. Additionally, in relation to the aim set for the study, it is hypothesized that: 1. Clinton employs various strategies so as to achieve mutual aims of diplomacy.2. Implicature is an unintentional act in the diplomatic answers of a press conference. 3. The reciprocal use of hedges by Hillary Clinton seems to fit the argumentative situation of debates. 4. Clinton adopts silence as a strategy that seems to be unique to diplomats as it seems to fit their personality. The analysis of the data shows that the pragmatic aspects of diplomatic language are very complex, and they have their distinctive features as delicate and polite linguistic aspects. A diplomatic answer is characterized by many things unsaid which are attained by means of diplomatic discourse, regular employment of "implicature", and with the intention of suggesting information not obviously stated . In diplomatic occasions, the appropriate use of hedging would contribute to the enhancement of language validity to a

certain extent rather than weakening the accuracy of political diplomatic language.

1. Introduction:
A press conference is an indispensable tool for getting media attention. In a press conference ,one assumes what information is obtained, how it is achieved and who emphasizes it. Diplomatic communication is an area where a pragmatic analysis can be conducted. Initially, the message is delivered in a prompt construction which is presented in a language obviously accessible for those who decide it well.
Investigating how presidential candidates try to attain their purposes in press conferences resides within the realm of pragmatics which is defined as the study of the speaker's intended meaning. Pragmatics tries to find the characteristics of the context of speech which support the determination of what kind of propositions are presented by an assumption (Stalnaker 1972: 383). Accordingly, the current study attempts to reveal some of the pragmatic aspects of the diplomatic answers employed by Hillary Clinton, in her attempt to fulfill her aims in the political press conferences she holds.
In relation to what is mentioned above, it is hypothesized that:
1. Clinton employs various strategies so as to achieve mutual aims of diplomacy.
Consequently, the current study attempts to create a pragmatic viewpoint of different pragmatic concerns demonstrated in press conferences and how diplomats can employ the suitable pragmatic issue to achieve their goal. Moreover, it aims to develop a model for the scrutiny of the data under investigation.
