A comprehensive model of enterprise transformation isdeveloped, along with a more specific model that includes multipleprocess factors inherent in transformation. The process factors aredrawn from literature as well as primary research conducted for thedissertation. Specific considerations of time, cognitive attention,control and leadership are proposed to affect various outcomemeasures of transformation. This dissertation is conducted withinthe context of the retail industry. Financial analyses are includedin order to provide an empirical basis for choice of retailindustry context. Interviews with multiple retail executives actedas a source of primary, qualitative data with which to develop themodel and inform the creation of a survey. A broad based empiricalsurvey provided a second source of data with which to test thehypotheses about the impacts of multiple transformation factors onsuccess metrics. Implications for theory and practice areelaborated, and future considerations for the research arediscussed.

Her research is focused on large-scale organizational change and transformation, and integrates multiple fields from organization studies, cognitive engineering, and related disciplines.
