This book brings together two legends. The band remains as phenomenally popular as ever, and Jim Marshall's books brings serious art photography to perennially beloved subject matter. This is the first posthumous collection from Marshall's estate and is packed with never-before-seen material. Capturing both photographer and band at the height of their powers, this features a foreword from Keith Richards.Autoren-Porträt von Jim Marshall
Jim Marshall's photographs adorn more than five hundred album covers, spanning everyone from Johnny Cash to Miles Davis. His cover photograph for Life from this tour of a white jump-suited Jagger remains one of the enduring portraits of the master showman. Marshall, who died in 2012 at 74, is widely celebrated as the premiere music photographer, a pioneer of the genre. His portfolio includes photos of virtually every major musician of the era, not only from the early days of rock 'n' roll but including its roots in jazz, blues and country. 'With an imposing presence and gruff, forceful personality, Mr. Marshall was something of a rock star himself,' said the New York Times in his obituary. Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones (founded 1962) have influenced international culture over the last fifty years through their music.

Rezension zu „The Rolling Stones 1972 “
"The Rolling Stones' 1972 American tour was bigger than anything that had come before it. [Jim] Marshall, who covered the tour for "Life" magazine, got complete access to the band, and the stunning images in this collection show the Stones in all their strung-out "Exile on Main Street"-era splendor-- recording in Los Angeles, chilling backstage and strutting across some very lucky concert stages." -Rolling Stone magazine
