After finding myself out of work, I needed something that would keep my brain working on an intellectual level higher than housework provided. I joined Photo a Day in August 2013, and it helped. However, my world was becoming very small as I traveled very little, even to town. I found by the end of August 2014 that I was struggling to find photos that werent just repeated. So I made a decision to take a break.
Four days later, my life was turned upside down when my parents were involved in a car accident that took the life of my mother and kept my father in the hospital for three months. At the beginning of November, I decided to try again, but it wasnt long when I was dealing with the same problem as before. Depression was also becoming an increasing issue, and I prayed that God would help me find a way to deal with it on my own. My mother was no longer available to talk to.
One morning, it came to me that I might try to write a story using the prompt as the title and take a photo related to the story. It seemed almost crazy but anything was worth a try. After all, I could only fail to deliver, and there would be no shame in that, just only in not trying.
I surprised myself! There are some times when I would sit at the computer and have no idea what I was going to write and bit by bit the words would come. There have also been times when I have written more than one story. Other photos have also inspired stories. It was one of my daughters who suggested that I put 366 of them together so you will have a story for each day to read. These are much shorter than my other creations, but I still pray that they will inspire you to keep going when life throws you a spanner.
Isaiah 55:8 says, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, said the Lord. How true!

Autoren-Porträt von Helen Brown
Born in Mount Isa, the eldest of five children of Salvation Army officers, Helen Brown lived an almost nomadic life until she was fifteen years of age. However, she discovered books as a preteen and read a lot, well into the night and occasionally all night. Two stories that captured her imagination were Anne of Green Gables and Little Women. Just like the heroines in these stories, she wanted to write. A learning disability, which was not corrected until she was in her thirties, meant that schooling was a real struggle. It also meant that her dream seemed to be a distant mirage. The struggle of raising five children and being a wife to a shearer/farmer in a small town, taught her a lot about life and the grace of God. During this time, she also completed her teaching degree and worked many casual jobs in order to ensure that the farm was viable. Today, she continues to write, with several books to her name now, while still living at the farm on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia.
