Lasseters thoughts often take him back to his naval days where he excelled in military aviation. He thinks about his participation in the Vietnam War, the friends he has lost through accidents or enemy fire, and the demanding tasks involved in winning his wings.
But when he becomes enamored with a flight attendant named Katarina, a perplexing love triangle develops, and Lasseter begins the agony of personal disintegration because of an incurable disease. As the illness and relationships progress, Ryan experiences the mental anguish of trying to differentiate reality from fantasy and finds himself in a difficult dilemma.

Bill Siren lives in San Diego with his wife, Allison, and near his children and grandchildren. He’s a retired navy captain and spent several years as an international airline pilot. He’s a graduate of Stanford University with advanced degrees in aeronautical engineering and business administration. He’s also an alumnus of the National Defense University.Bill flew eighty combat missions over Vietnam and served at the Pentagon for six years. He authored articles that have appeared in aviation journals and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Tau Beta Pi, national honor societies in business and engineering respectively.
