This book compiles the work of Ben S. Corpuz and Paulina T. Balisi. Pagsinta (Love) is a collection of poems drawn from the written letters and reflections of Ben S. Corpuz and Paulina T. Balisi, journeying through their life together in their marriage of more than 30 years.
Assembled during the COVID-19 pandemic, the book illustrates the love, joy, and struggle shared between Ben and Paulina. Written bilingually in English and Tagalog, these selected pieces offer a glimpse into the moments they met, courted, married, separated by migration, and reunited. It explores the decisions they made throughout the years that brought them to where they are now.
The book also discusses Ben and Paulina's advocacy work, dealing with the complicated situations they continue to face and survive as Filipino immigrants in Canada. They show how their activism has always been integral to their daily life. How their love for each other and their family extends into their love for the community.
As society continues to face new challenges, Pagsinta (Love) strives to provide readers with the inspiration and hope that love can endure in even the most trying of times.
