Autoren-Porträt von Ariel Frailich, Thomas Zhang
Thomas Zhe Zhang, the son of a Traditional Chinese Medical doctor, was born in northern China but was brought up by his grandmother in the southern countryside near Shanghai. During his childhood, he gained an enormous amount of knowledge about nature from first-hand observation and from listening to farmers. Thomas later studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and mastered Five-element theory -- the philosophy central to all traditional Chinese sciences -- which gave him a deep understanding of all facets of human health. Perhaps it was more than coincidence that the name his parents gave him, Zhe, means ‘philosopher’.In 1994 and 1995, Thomas had the rare opportunity to study Traditional Chinese Medicine in more depth with some of his father’s teachers in Tianjin, China. From those elders he learned the nearly forgotten roots of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including prevention and the root causes of disease.
Since graduating from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Thomas has been practicing as a licenced naturopathic doctor and a registered Traditional Chinese Medical doctor in Thornhill, Ontario.
Ariel Frailich is a writer and publisher who has been interested in alternative medicine and Chinese philosophy for many years. He lives in Toronto, Ontario.
