Shinas cup of sorrow is always full but she never gives up hope. Thrown out of their town home after her husbands death, she takes her family to live in their country home. Several months later, just when things return to normality, she is violated and ends up carrying her rapists baby. Not so far away, Colonel Eddie Toad is mobilising the army and civilians to rebuild the community torn apart by the ruthless and unruly soldiers under the guise of rebel warfare. His world changes when one day, he finds Shina the only woman he truly loved on her deathbed. Her marries her and adopts her children. Captain Slater and his cronies do not like Colonel Toads work and plan to eliminate him.

John spends a great deal of his time working with and mentoring youths who have not made good use of the facilities offered by compulsory education system. His studies and research on social issues and education often provide basis for the books he writes.
He is author of "Billy the Elephant" (first published in 1994) a satirically view of cultural issues that an immigrant faces; "The Goodness Ripple" (under publication) is about challenges war survivors face; and "Rhapsodina City (under publication) a reality journey of a young man who has never done a single day's work
