Commander Vernan disliked what he privately called the 'sheep dog' role, showing the Federation flag round the outpost colonies. The flight crews isolated on Armon find remnants of an earlier civilisation. They become embroiled in the rebels fight for social and military survival. Collie as nominal Flight Leader and her Tech Specialist Vella must find the means to aid the rebels and establish contact the 'First People.' Collie also must come to terms with her budding relationship with Vella.
