As a single parent and United States Combat War Veteran, I focused on adapting to what some people would call a normal life after returning home from multiple deployments. I felt that there was a larger enemy at home than there was in Iraq. Feeling frustrated with the world and being a parent was hard enough. Then my daughter’s and I were alone and I had to adapt to more changes in life as did they.One afternoon my daughters were very hyper and I told them that they needed to take a nap and calm down. They both asked if I would lay with them and tell a story. My oldest daughter asked me to tell a story about a man I saw when I was a child who had glowing eyes. As I started to tell my daughters the story, they asked me to make it a longer story. At that moment, I had an idea and told a story for naptime, that turned into short story, and then into this book, The Roglin.
