Phillip Rock wurde 1927 in Hollywood geboren und wuchs in Beverley Hills auf, bis er mit seiner Familie nach England zog. Als Erwachsener kehrte er zurück in die USA und lebte bis zu seinem Tod in Los Angeles. Seinen großen Durchbruch als Autor hatte er nach einigen anderen Veröffentlichungen schließlich mit der "Abingdon-Hall-Serie".
