Hier gibt es nun die einzigartige Sammlung von 19 Original LPs dieses einmaligen Künstlers. Diese Aufnahmen zeigen den musikalischen Werdegang des bekanntesten Jazztrompeters der Welt. Sein Trompetenspiel und sein krächzender Gesangsstil waren seine Markenzeichen. Louis Armstrong wurde 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA geboren. Erste musikalische Schritte machte er 1918 und 1922 spielte er in der Band seines Mentors King Oliver das Kornett. 1926 gründete "Satchmo", wie er nun genannt wurde, seine eigene Formation. Sein Spitzname "Satchmo" ist eine Abkürzung von "Satchelmouth" (etwa: Mund wie ein Schulranzen). Armstrong machte im Jazzbereich eine der größten Karrieren weltweit. Aber auch die amerikanischen Pop-Charts wurden von ihm erobert. Zwischen 1946 und 1988 schaffte er (zum Teil posthum) mit 18 Titeln den Sprung in die amerikanischen Pop-Charts. Einige dieser Erfolge erzielte er als Duettpartner von Bing Crosby oder auch Ella Fitzgerald. Louis Armstrong starb im Jahr 1971.
