The Metibolic Syndrorne (Met Syn) is one of the major public health issues of this century. It is constellation of physical conditions and metabolic abnormalities commonly found in association with increased risk for development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), cardiovascular disease and other medical conditions. If current trend continues, the premature death and disabilities resulting from these conditions in both developed and developing countries will increase the financial burden on them. It is known that overt hypothyroidism leads to an increase in plasma cholesterol levels and blood pressure Most studies in subclinical hypothyroidism show comparable, but less pronounced association. As the thyroid function and components of metabolic syndrome is influenced by genetic, geographic, dietary and other factors, this study was earned out aiming to investigate the relationship between the thyroid dysfunction and components of the metabolic syndrome in the patients visiting to Santosh Hospital.
