Cancer has been appearing as an important public health problem in Bangladesh. An estimated cancer load is approximately 1.2 million, 250,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed each year approximately and 150,000 deaths due to cancer occur each year. Due to the lack of reporting system and under-diagnosis of cancer, the real situation is unknown yet.Facilities and resources available for detection and treatment of cancer are indeed very limited in Bangladesh. There is no population based cancer registry in our country to provide reliable data on cancer incidence, prevalence and mortality. This study aims to see the distribution of cancer patients and treatment patterns at Dhaka Medical College,Bangladesh.The information collected consists of demographics, site of cancer, type of cancer, type of treatments, and effort to identify people of which age range are in the risk of cancer.This study also revealed the familial history of cancer and effort to indicate the hereditary relationship in the genesis of cancer.
