An important factor in the process ofassembling are the complementary binding motifs onthe components and these could be simple organicmolecules to metals to complex amino acids. Recentyears have witnessed a few breakthroughs in the fieldof catalyst designing via self-assembly, but there isimmense need of new approaches. This book outlines strategies to prepare metalcomplexes with chelating, template-centeredbis-phosphine ligands by self-assembly of simple hardand soft metal complex precursors with bi-functionalphosphine-catecholate ligands in a single syntheticstep. The choice of template of different size andcoordination number permits to adjust the bite angleof the chelating bis-phosphine unit in a predictablemanner. Chirality in chelate complexes has beendemonstrated in simple and excellent manner. This book aims at an audience of advanced students,experts and scientists working in catalysis viaself-assembly, bimetallic complexes, hard-softacid-base complexes and ligand designing.

Chikkali SamirDr. Samir H. Chikkali, obtained his Ph.D. degree in Chemistryfrom the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He did teaching forthe undergraduate courses at the University of Stuttgart. He wasalso a fellow of Indian Academy of Science, Bangalore working atNational Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India.
