With the advent of new technologies, the field of musculoskeletal radiology has grown to include not only diseases that affect the skeleton, but also those that affect muscles, ligaments, tendons and also the cartilaginous structures within joints. Diagnostic Imaging of Musculoskeletal Diseases: A Systematic Approach is a useful and worthy teaching text
that is at once readable by the radiology resident rotating through the musculoskeletal radiology and thorough enough to be used by the practicing radiologist. Written by authors who are well established in the field of musculoskeletal radiology and pathology, this volume provides readers with a practical and systematic approach to think about diagnosis of pathologic conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system, thus making the material easier to learn and synthesize. Chapters are organized by major categories of disease: trauma, infection, tumors and tumor-like conditions, metabolic diseases, dysplastic diseases and arthritis. Additional chapters examine basic interventional techniques that apply to musculoskeletal imaging and in recognition of the importance of orthopedic procedures, information is included on the use, imaging, appearance, and pathology affecting prostheses and fixation devices. Diagnostic Imaging of Musculoskeletal Diseases: A Systematic Approach is an exceptionally important new text that contains information essential to the practice of modern radiology.

Klappentext zu „Diagnostic Imaging of Musculoskeletal Diseases “
We dedicate this text to Drs. Ernest E. Aegerter, a pathologist, and John A. Kirkpatrick Jr., a radiologist. They were among the principal founders of the ?eld of skeletal pathology and radiology. During their time, their residents and colleagues knew them as great educators with a dedication and a passion for their work. Their textbook, Orthopedic Diseases, published initially in 1958 was among the ?rst interdisciplinary works devoted to this ?eld. Dr. Aegerter and Dr. Kirkpatrick illuminated many aspects of the ?eld of radiology. Today, with the advent of new technologies, this ?eld has grown to include not only diseases that affect the skeleton but also those that affect muscles, ligaments, tendons, and also the cartilaginous structures within joints. With this text we intend to carry on Dr. Aegerter and Dr. Kirkpatrick¿s tradition. We have recruited only well-known musculoskeletal radiologists and pathologists to participate in the writing of this book. Each author has been carefully selected for his expertise on the topic about which he¿s been asked to contribute. Each author is known as an experienced and seasoned teacher. Each author has made a mark on the ?eld.

Rezension zu „Diagnostic Imaging of Musculoskeletal Diseases “
From the reviews:"This broad overview of all of the essentials of musculoskeletal imaging is well organized into sections with clear and relevant images. It is an appropriate teaching tool for beginning radiology residents as well as an acceptable basic reference for practicing physicians. ... Radiology residents and general radiologists are the intended audience. The book is well suited for both of these audiences ... . practicing radiologists may find this a suitable general text." (Richard Tupler, Doody's Review Service, March, 2010)
"For this new medical text, Bonakdarpour ... Khurana (pathology, Temple U. School of Medicine), have recruited well-known musculoskeletal radiologists and pathologists as contributors and have sought to provide a practical and systematic approach to analyzing diseases of bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints from medical images in a manner that is accessible to the radiology resident experiencing musculoskeletal radiology for the first time. ... They also ... add information on the use, imaging appearance, and pathology affecting prostheses and fixation devices." (SciTech Book News, March, 2010)
