The pharmaceutical industry is the most corrupt industry in the world. The marketing department of the pharmaceutical industry is most responsible for this corruption. There are 3Cs of marketing; convince the customer, corrupt the customer, and confuse the customer respectively, the pharmaceutical industries are in the second stage. Medicine is a noble profession, pharmaceutical companies have corrupted doctors with an ever-growing intensity, showering them with lakhs of rupees worth of gifts, consulting fees, and foreign trips under the name of CMEs and medical conferences to persuade them to prescribe their brand of drugs. Now doctors are prescribing according to industry profits rather than the patient's needs. These unethical marketing practices ultimately lead to increasing the cost of the medicine. Government is helpless to curb such practices adopted by the key stakeholder of the industry. I.C.T. will play a significant role in controlling the unethical marketing practicesof pharmaceutical companies and doctors if used properly.
