Bobby Patel, BDS, MFDS RCS (Edin), MClinDent (Endo), MRD RCS (Eng), is a specialist endodontist at Brindabella Specialist Centre, Garran, ACT, Australia. He completed his BDS at the Royal London Dental Hospital in 1999. He then went on to complete vocational training and subsequent posts in the community dental setting treating children and difficult adult patients. Further 12 month posts were held working as a restorative house officer and a clinical fellow in an oral maxillofacial department. Thereafter he was awarded Membership in the Fellowship of Dental Surgery in 2004 and then undertook full-time mono-speciality endodontic training at the Eastman Dental Institute in London, UK, obtaining his MClinDent with Distinction in 2006. He was awarded the poster prize at the British Endodontic Society Meeting in 2006 for innovative research during his training. In 2007 he gained Membership in Restorative Dentistry (Royal College of Surgeons, England), the highest formal qualification attainable in the UK. He is currently awaiting confirmation of Membership of the Royal College of Australian Dental Surgeons (Endodontics). From 2008 to present he has acted as a key opinion leader for Dentsply Australia and was recently invited to attend a Train the Trainer course in Ballaigues, Switzerland. In 2012 he completed a further 6-month Sabbatical at Poole Oral Maxillofacial unit in the UK, further refining his surgical skills. His main interests professionally are in the areas of Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, Instrumentation, Dental Trauma, Education and Surgical endodontics.
