Since past few decades nanomaterials have gained immense interest in research and other applications due to their unique chemical, mechanical, optical, magnetic, electrochemical, and engineered properties such as large surface area, high porosity, crystallinity, morphology and solubility, etc. Nanocomposites are usually multiphase materials with significant proportions of each phase where one of the phases has one, two or three dimensions of less than 100 nm. The nanocomposites are widely applied in various fields ranging from electronics, sensors, solar cells, fuel cells, batteries, filters to bio-engineering fields such as tissue engineering and drug delivery. Over the past decades, numerous traditional pharmaceuticals techniques such as tableting, casting and spraying have been investigated with the aim of preparing dual drug release dosage forms. The systems produced include mixed films, multi-layered film, multi-layered tablets, film-coated tablets and eluting tablets, film-coated tablets and eluting stents. This book will give you a short introductory idea about the working of nanofibers in drug delivery systems.
