Autoren-Porträt von Dirk Steinborn
Dirk Steinborn, born in Berlin, studied Chemistry at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry in 1974 from the Technische Hochschule Leuna-Merseburg with an organometallic thesis under the direction of Rudolf Taube. From 1981 to 1983 he worked in chemical industry. In 1984, he received his Dr. sc. nat. degree with work on nitrogen-functionalized alkylmetal compounds and the electronic influence of organo ligands. This was followed in 1985 by a Facultas docendi, after which he was in 1987 appointed to a Hochschuldozent of the Technische Hochschule Leuna-Merseburg. In the same year he was awarded the Friedrich-Wöhler-Prize. In 1992 he was appointed Full Professor for Inorganic Chemistry at the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. His research intereses are in the area of organometallic chemistry, complex catalysis, and bioinorganic chemistry.
