NG'OGI Nebo Chios Repercussion Of Sin

Among the Nandi there is a distinct understanding of sin and its repercussions. Ng'ogi is the outcome of what one committed or witnessed and was under public adjuration to testify but did not give the right information. This causes one to suffer the consequences. These repercussions extended to many generations if there was no intervention or cleansing. The concept is put into a proverbial form as 'ng'ogi nebo chios' literally, 'the repercussion of a serious sin of the old one'. This proverb is used to inform people who are experiencing a problem that what they are facing is not just a recent problem but it has its roots back into the old days. Grave repercussions would also follow anyone who makes a careless vow, no matter what it is about. When one commits a sinful act and hides, a curse will be pronounced upon the culprit. Some acts of sins automatically have an effect even before any curse is invoked. Mathew 5:23-24 Says, "... if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you; leave your gift there before the altar and go first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift."
