Bangladesh does not have iron as such has to depend on the scrapped iron and about 90% of iron materials come from this industry. Other items of the ship such as engines, generators, boilers, electrical items, furniture, plumbing items, refrigerators, air conditioners etc. have a good market in Bangladesh. A lot of stakeholders are involved with these scrapping activities. A coherent picture of these scrapping activities in Bangladesh from the angle of socio-economics benefits of different stake holders, constraints and problems for the development of this sector has been drawn in this book.
