The six women captured here construct themselves as loyal and patriotic citizens of Zimbabwe who have had to leave their country and family and make their livelihoods in thriving neighboring South Africa. In their poignant voices, the women reveal migration conflicts of home and belonging, as well the struggle to hold on to an identity and culture, in a world that demands assimilation and immersion in host cultures. The women's stories highlight the underlying realities of personal and gendered conflicts and challenges of national identity in a world that continues to lean towards fluid identities.
