----------------------------------------
Based on tried-and-tested lectures for graduate students, this textbook comes complete with problems, solutions and notes for lecturers.
It not only covers disks in astrophysics in general, but also galaxies and binary star systems, coherently delivering the complete theoretical background.
Given the lack of up-to-date books at this time of intense searching for extrasolar planets, coupled with the importance of this topic in Master courses on astronomy, this will be the book of choice.

Autoren-Porträt von Joseph M. Hahn
Joe Hahn is researcher at the Space Science Institute in Austin, Texas, USA. Before this, he had held a resarch chair at St/ Mary's University in Nova Scotia, Canada. In particular, Dr. Hahn is an expert on the physics of gravitationally-interacting disks and has spent a large part of his career exploring details of the intricatedynamics of these astrophysically important objects. The author's research focus has forced him to become well versed in both Planetary and Galactic Dynamics, a combination that is surprisingly rare among practicing scientists.
