Produktinformationen zu „The Ecco Anthology of International Poetry “
In THE ECCO ANTHOLOGY OF INTERNATIONAL POETRY, introduced and edited by Ilya Kaminsky and Susan Harris, poetic visions from the 20th century will be reinforced and in many ways revised. There will be excellent new translations of masters such as Neruda, Amichai, Brodsky, Appolinaire, etc. There will be poems by relatively younger poets, already well known in their respective countries, whose work is being translated into English for the first time in this book. Taken together, this collection offers a necessary new interpretation of what mattered in the 20th century. In conjunction with the organization WORDS WITHOUT BORDERS -- an online haven for international literature and an ally to writers all over the world -- Ecco will publish a trade paperback anthology that, we hope, will serve as a canonical touchstone in the field of poetics and as a next step in Ecco's long tradition of bringing voices from afar to the American reading public. As aptly put in Words without Borders' mission statement, this project also serves as part of "the ultimate aim to introduce exciting international writing to the general and literary public -- travelers, teachers, students, publishers, and a new generation of eclectic readers -- by presenting international literature not as a static, elite phenomenon, but a portal through which to explore the world."
