The challenge of translating the metaphorical uses of LIGHT is being tackled in this book from a Relevance Theory (RT) perspective. The author applies this RT perspective on the biblical metaphorical uses which are being analyzed in their translation into Lugbarati (a language of the Moru Ma'di family, Central Sudanic branch and Nilo-Saharan phylum) spoken in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Aru Territory) and northwestern Uganda (West Nile District). Though metaphor conceptualization and verbalization are universal language practices, each language has its own way of dealing with the two cognitive operations. The present research helps to observe these language phenomena in the process of translation from a biblical greek concept to Lugbarati ones. The book is a contribution to conversations on metaphors as analyzed in cognitive linguistics, and translated across languages.
