This book reveals the chemistry of hydantoins and thiohydantoins. The green rout of the synthesis of hydantoins and thiohydantoins is of great importance nowadays due to their different applications such as in medicine, catalysis, manufacture of plastics, so it is studied in this book. The thermal synthesis was also studied. The different reactions of hydantoins and thiohydantoins that produced important compounds for treating different diseases were studied. The most important biological utilities of hydantoins and thiohydantoins that are studied are anti-cancer activity, antimicrobial activity, antiviral activity, anxiolytic activity, antidiabetic activity. They are also used for other purposes, including textile printing, as catalysts for polymerizations, in the production of resins and plastics.

Abd Elhady, HebaThe author graduated in 2002. She was awarded the M.Cs. in 2006 and Ph.D in 2008. She works as Assistant professor of organic chemistry at the department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science at Al-Azhar University (Girls branch) from 2016. Research interests are in the field of heterocyclic chemistry of biological interest.
