Before deciding to actually write it, I had to ask myself many times one simple question. That question was Why am I seeing violence everywhere I look?
I took a few days to really pay attention to every act of violence that I saw with my own eyes, and in just two days of paying attention while going about my daily life, I saw thirty-eight acts of violence! I know that sounds a bit much, but thirty-eight acts in forty-eight hours is a reminder to me that something needs to be done.
I am in prison, so its a violent place. Only nine acts actually took place between people who are incarcerated with me. The rest I saw on our ever faithful television set. I believe that many of the things we see or our children see may just have a negative effect on us as people. Children often do things that they see others do. If a child is constantly seeing someone shoot another person on TV, then I believe that child is more likely to use a gun in his or her life. Where does it stop?
This book is my personal attempt to stop the violence, which has become a worldwide epidemic. I pray that anyone who reads this book will make a decision to say no to violence and learn that it is never the answer because, in the end, we will have to answer to the Creator for all our good and bad deeds. When the violence stops, the healing can begin for us all.

Autoren-Porträt von Willard Avon Evans II
I was born Willard Avon Evans II on March 4, 1978, to Mary Louise Hollice and Willard Avon Evans in Baltimore, Maryland. I live in Birmingham, Alabama (Central City Projects). At age twelve, I started living a life of crime. I sold crack cocaine, cocaine, and reefer. I burglarize houses and robbed banks. I caught my first bank robbery case when I was seventeen. My imprisonment was due to the environment I lived in and a lack of education about God and the true knowledge of self. I got locked up 1996. I met God in 2001 after I was involved in a crime at Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama. In 2000, I and two other guys tried to escape, but our plans failed. I am so glad I didn't get away because I would be dead today and living in hell with the devil. We took two officers and one nurse hostage inside the prison infirmary. The officers and nurse werent harmed, but I was beaten unconscious. I was charged with three counts of kidnapping and one count of promoting prison contraband for a prison-made knife I had in my possession. In 2002, I received four life sentences. I have been in confinement for nineteen years. I am eligible for parole in April 2017. The hostage situation changed my life for the better.
I am a saved, born-again Christian and God-fearing man. I am a missionary for God. Remove the letters a, r, and y away from the missionary, and now there is the word mission. I am on a special mission. I am on a special mission assignment given to me by God himself. My special mission is to get all people to stop violence. God is doing a godly and great work in my life daily. Please allow him to do the same in yours. God loves you, and so do I. If I can defeat violence, so can you. Say no to violence! Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
