Miller is the author of many articles on environmental history, politics, and other issues for a wide range of publications, both professional and popular. He currently lives in San Antonio, Texas. For Gifford Pinchot and the Making of Modern Environmentalism, Miller won the following awards: Independent Publisher Book Award Foreword Magazine Book of the Year, Gold Award 2001 National Outdoor Book Award Connecticut Book Award Booklist Magazine (April 2001), Top Ten Biographies of Social Activists
