Autoren-Porträt von Shel Weissman
Shel Weissman was born in 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. He acquired storytelling skills by listening to family, friends, and exceptional members of his community. His writing evolved through his roles as an educator, grant writer, consultant, and globe trekker. He published his memoir, A Resilient Soul, and several fictional short story books: Harold's Garden, A Day of Reckoning, and Midnight Train to Trieste. The author and his family have lived in Northern California since 1974. Brooklyn Sunset reveals the author's reflections growing up in blue collar Brooklyn after World War II. He chronicles adventures experienced and presents cherished people who helped shape his future beliefs and opportunities. The backdrop of this tale is the transformation of his Brownsville neighborhood, which mirrored the rise of the suburbs, ethnic relocation, and the onset of urban turmoil. A new era was about to envelop America and have a profound impact on the cities across the nation. Places like Brooklyn dramatically changed, and the unpretentious life would never be the same.
