We returned to Rangoon, Burma in 1945 then left for ever in 1948 the day before Burma became Independent, because my Father was considered persona non grata. My early life in England and schooling as a boarder at Prep School and then at Sherborne, the Public School, followed thereafter. Together with my elder brother and younger sister, we had an idyllic childhood, with many family holidays in England and Europe enjoying a life style in a world that no longer exists.
