Kenneth A Kim, PhD, is a finance professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo where he is also the Chair of the MBA & MS Programs and Academic Director of the Singapore EMBA Program. Dr Kim has previously held a variety of academic appointments at 16 different universities around the world, including the University of Tokyo, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Yonsei University (South Korea), Asian University of Science and Technology (Thailand), Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Georgetown University, and the University of Michigan. Dr Kim consults for various businesses and organizations including money managers, financial institutions, stock exchanges, governments, and other regulatory bodies in the areas of international finance, Asian financial markets, and financial markets regulation. Kim is the author of the CFA Institute's Body of Knowledge material pertaining to corporate governance. During 1998 and 1999, he worked as a senior financial economist at the US Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC, where he worked on a wide variety of international finance, and corporate finance and governance issues, including mergers & acquisitions regulations. His primary research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance, behavioral finance, and Asian financial markets. His research has been highlighted in the financial press including The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Newsweek and Businessweek. His academic papers have been published in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Business, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Financial Intermediation, the Journal of Empirical Finance, the Journal of Financial Markets, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Financial Research, among other leading academic journals. Kim is also coauthor of the textbook Corporate Governance, now in its 3rd edition (Prentice Hall, 2011).
