Autoren-Porträt von Daisy M. Brown
Daisy Brown was born in Southern California during the 1950s at a time when life was still quite simple, no cell phones or color televisions or even automotive safety belts. No one locked their doors because everyone knew their neighbors. It was at a time when a child’s mind was filled with wonder, and their favorite pastime was riding bikes with bells on the handlebars, colored tassels blowing in the wind, and a “playing card” fastened to the spokes with a wooden clothespin. Though it took years to shape her literary knowledge, she always held on to her dreams, which soon became her reality. She also made a promise to herself never to lose her “child within.” Soon her young and wandering mind grew into a passion for poetry and gave inner peace.
Her first poem was published in her high school creative arts literary magazine with great pride. As an adult, she moved to Northern California and went on to publish future work in three different poetry anthologies in the 1990s.
In time, she acquired more of an understanding of life with a profession as a teaching assistant for middle school children, her many years as a home health assistant for young adults and the elderly, and today she is an author with her first children’s book How to Teach a Frog to Sing and has many other works in progress.
And after years of searching, she was fortunate to have been reconnected to the many of her long-lost siblings. Now along with her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, she is overjoyed with all the great memories and filled with the anticipation of even more in the future.
