Autoren-Porträt von Andrew Kelly
I have always had an interest in living a healthy lifestyle and can often be found at a yoga class, out on my mountain bike, or playing golf. I enjoy being outside in the fresh air and sunshine rather than indoors. Sadly, many people and many children seem to spend too much time online, playing video games or just watching television. This, combined with our busy lives, doesn’t leave much time to enjoy being outdoors as much as we should. While we are all so busy, even healthy eating can be overlooked because it’s so easy to have something quick to eat like a ready meal or a burger.
I have an allergy to wheat, so I have had to be careful of what I eat and what ingredients are in the food. I eat all my life. If I’m not careful and eat something I shouldn’t, it can make me quite unwell. A bad diet and lack of exercise can lead to many health problems in later life, and it can be very difficult to lose excess weight. However, if a child is overweight, with a few small adjustments to diet and exercise, these problems can be overcome fairly easily. But taking the first step seems to be the hardest part.
I grew up in Wales, and as a kid, I had plenty of places to play—parks for football, the open countryside for mountain biking, and the beach for playing and swimming. I now live in Oxfordshire.
I still do all the things I enjoy, like golf, so the exercise I need is enjoyable rather than a chore. We don’t need to go to the gym every day and become obsessed with exercise. Just make small changes and get out in the fresh air, do things you enjoy, and you will notice you feel better in just a short space of time.
