Trish Carpenter loves writing contemporary children's books which are relevant to the issues we all face today. She also enjoys reading her stories to children and encourages their participation, often with hilarious results.In her latest story KATIE and the CRAYONS, a girl with a disability and her service dog come to the rescue of a classmate who is being bullied. Together, the duo teach children what to do if they are bullied. The story emphasizes the importance of speaking up and getting help from parents, teachers and other trusted adults. Also included is information for parents, outlining the issue of bullying and what to do about it. The suggestions are based upon consultation with bullying experts and the US Department of Education guidelines.
Her previous book THE STRAY WHO BECAME A SERVICE DOG is a touching story about a shelter dog named N.E. who is trained to aid a boy who is visually impaired.
Trish has a Masters Degree in education and an undergraduate degree in psychology. She is a retired school principal and has taught pre-kindergarten to eights grades. She also provides writing workshops geared to all ages.
