Mary is presented as a member of an early sect called the Theraputeae who understood ancient knowledge and intuitive wisdom. As the story progresses Mary and Jeshua face the challenges of his imminent death, and the journey Mary and her followers must subsequently make as concerns for her safety become paramount.
The book contains familiar elements of human behaviour such as love, betrayal, joy and jealousy as we join Mary in her account of the events that took place over two millennia ago, events that could have had a very different outcome.
