Sara and Jake eventually cross paths, enriching the plot and further describing Greece during World War II. Dahl's inspiration to write this book came from a recurring dream he had while recovering in the intensive care unit from carotid surgery. After putting his dream on paper, Dahl believes that "e;Let the White Doves Soar"e; has all the essential elements of an epic enthralling story: action, drama, history, culture, romance and suspense. "e;This compelling story takes readers back into a tragic time,"e; Dahl said.
