LIGHT VERSE AND LIMERICKS is a compilation of my poetry that I found humorous over the last sixty years. It is an attempt on my part to see the world through laughing eyes, to put a touch of whimsy into words, and to bring smiles to anyone who happens to read my lines. Laziness and lack of funds are the villains I name for keeping me from publication before this. My intention now is to get these poems into book form so, possibly, my wife, Glenda, won't burn them when I die, and to satisfy a sixty year desire to have a book of my own within my library.

Ken Layton has lived in Carthage.NC, for about forty years. He is a graduate of Guilford College and taught English at Union pines High until retirement in 1992. His poetry has won few times with NCPS, and he has been named Limerick Laureate in the Pilot newspaper.
