Selim Gürgen, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Aeronautical Engineering at Eskisehir Osmangazi University. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Gazi University and Middle East Technical University, respectively. His Ph.D. degree is in Mechanical Engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Wollongong, Australia for a project on smart materials, and worked as a researcher with the School of Transportation at Anadolu University for four years. Before his academic life, he worked as a manufacturing engineer in a joint venture of KMWE-Dutch Aero in the Netherlands for three years. Dr. Gürgen has contributed to several industrial and research projects in collaboration with major organizations such as Fiat Automotive Industry and Turkish Air Force. His projects were funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK) and European Union (EU). He has many publications in refereed international journals and conferences, and has co-authored a book and book chapters on aviation. He serves as an editorial member for different international journals. His
Mehmet Alper Sofuoglu, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Eskisehir Osmangazi University. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Wollongong, Australia for a project on ultrasonic-assisted machining of aerospace materials. Dr. Sofuoglu has worked as a researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Eskisehir Osmangazi University for seven years. He contributed to several industrial and research projects in collaboration with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK), and has many publications in refereed international journals and conferences. His primary area of research deals with machining operations of aerospace materials and optimization of the machining processes.
