From "one of the most respected Regency writers" comes a delightful romantic tale of two nobles who find each other—and true love—on the stage (Library Journal). After leading troops on the Continent, Lord Grayson is uneasy in his new role as a mannered gent. But adventure comes his way again when he is coerced into delivering a message to one Katherine Billings. On the way, Grayson is injured by a highwayman hired by his duplicitous nephew. Then, staggering into a barn to hide, he discovers a play in progress—with the lovely Kate actually playing a role! It seems that out of necessity and a twist of fate, Kate fell in with a troupe of actors and found a new life for herself. What's a cynical marquis to do? Using his common name of Hal Hampton, Grayson joins the troupe, partly to protect himself from his nephew, but mostly to get to know Kate better. They both fall under the spell of the poor but talented players around them—and fall for each other in a far more dramatic way in this "utterly charming and lovable" romance from one of the genre's finest talents (All About Romance).
Autoren-Porträt von Carla Kelly
A well-known veteran of the romance writing field, Carla Kelly is the author of thirty-one novels and three nonfiction works, as well as numerous short stories and articles for various publications. She is the recipient of two RITA Awards from Romance Writers of America for Best Regency of the Year; two Spur Awards from Western Writers of America; two Whitney Awards, 2011 and 2012; and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Romantic Times. Kelly's interest in historical fiction is a byproduct of her lifelong study of history. She's held a variety of jobs, including public relations work for major hospitals and hospices, feature writer and columnist for a North Dakota daily newspaper, and ranger in the National Park Service (her favorite job) at Fort Laramie National Historic Site and Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site. She has worked for the North Dakota Historical Society as a contract researcher. Interest in the Napoleonic Wars at sea led to a recent series of novels about the British Channel Fleet during that conflict. Of late, Kelly has written two novels set in southeast Wyoming in 1910 that focus on her Mormon background and her interest in ranching.
